Our commitment
As a professional body dedicated to human dignity and inclusive workplaces, CIPMD is committed to ensuring that everyone – including people with visual, hearing, motor, cognitive and neurological disabilities – can access our information and services on an equal basis.
This policy covers the cipmd.net website, our online application forms, examinations and assessments, learning resources, communications and events.
Standards we follow
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible, and conformance also supports the goals of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 and equivalent laws in other countries where our members live.
Accessibility features
Keyboard friendly
All menus and links can be reached with the Tab key, with a clearly visible focus outline, and a “Skip to main content” link.
Screen readers
Pages use headings, landmarks, labelled links and alternative text for meaningful images.
Resizable text
Pages can be zoomed to 200% and reflow on small screens without losing content.
Colour contrast
Text and controls are designed to meet minimum contrast ratios.
Reduced motion
Animations are minimised when your device is set to reduce motion.
Responsive design
The website adapts to phones, tablets and desktops.
Examination and assessment accommodations
We provide reasonable adjustments so that every candidate can demonstrate their knowledge fairly. Examples include:
- extra time and supervised rest breaks;
- screen-reader compatible or large-print papers, and adjustable on-screen fonts and colours;
- a reader, scribe or sign-language interpreter;
- a separate room, or a flexible appointment time for remote proctored exams;
- permission to use assistive technology or medical devices during the exam.
How to request an accommodation
- Tell us when you book your exam, ideally at least 30 days before your exam date.
- Describe the adjustment you need. Supporting documentation from a qualified professional may be requested; we keep it strictly confidential and use it only for this purpose.
- We will confirm the arrangements in writing, normally within 10 business days.
Approved accommodations do not affect how your exam is marked, and they are never mentioned on your certificate or results.
Alternative formats and support
If you cannot access any content on our website, or need a document in another format (for example large print, an accessible Word document or plain text), please contact us. We will try to provide it within 10 business days, or tell you when it will be available.
We are also happy to help you complete application forms by email or by arranging a call, if online forms are difficult for you to use.
Events and in-person services
For conferences, workshops and in-person examinations, we select accessible venues wherever possible and can arrange accessible seating, hearing loops, sign-language interpretation or captioning on request. Please tell us about your needs when you register so that we can prepare.
Known limitations
We are continuously improving, and some parts of the website may not yet fully meet our standard. These currently include:
- some older PDF documents and images of text, which we are replacing with accessible versions;
- some complex menus on older pages that may be harder to navigate with certain screen readers;
- third-party content, such as embedded maps, social media feeds and external learning platforms, which we do not control.
If you encounter any of these, please contact us and we will provide the information in another way.
Feedback and complaints
We welcome your feedback. If you experience a barrier, please tell us:
- the web address (URL) of the page;
- a short description of the problem; and
- the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using.
We will acknowledge your message within 5 business days and aim to resolve it, or propose an alternative, within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may ask for it to be reviewed by the CIPMD Independent Governance Committee.
Ongoing review
We review the accessibility of our website at least once a year, test new features with keyboard and screen-reader tools before launch, and train our staff and agents on accessible communication. This policy was last reviewed on the date shown at the top of this page.
